The name Kayma is derived from the Arabic language for tent ( which Berber tribe in Algeria use as home that can be permanent or no). Algerian cuisine is Mediterranean ( Turkey, France, Italy & Spain) North African ( Algerian) with Berber Roots. Our food is flavorful with many spices, tomatoes, garlic, sheep meat, olive oil, and much more. All of our dishes are family recipes passed down from generation to generation. Wafa and Mounir’s family is a part of the Chaoui in northeast Algeria, and the two hail from the city of Batna.What once started as a catering company has now grown into launching a kiosk at the upcoming La Cocina Municipal Marketplace, which is opening in Spring 2021 in the Tenderloin.
